God's gift to rink builders

Donald writes: "This is my first attempt at making a rink. There is no liner...snow based. I did all the 'ground' work this past summer. Well actually I didn't but an 'excavator' did. Once we started getting some cold weather this past December I started making the base. We had a January thaw last week that brought 70mm of rain followed quickly by minus 15 temps. I thought that would have been the end of it but instead it held the water and now I have about 4 inches of ice instead of 1 or 2. I also forwarded a picture of my "ice cleaner". I would never have been able to maintain the rink without it. Just too much snow with a lot of drifting. Next year, I'll have better lighting and netting at each end. Kids love it."
