This is the first year attempting
this project and I had a few interesting ups and downs.
I started building my rink
in early December 2002. But I didn’t start flooding until January 10, 2003.
The rink is 20' X 20' and is framed with 1"x10’s and ¾" plywood.
The supports are made from 2x4s and 1x1s with 18" long, ¾" rebar
driven in every 4 feet. The liner is made from 4mil plastic with 2 seams.
The deep end has about 16" of ice, shallow 4".
Some setbacks I encountered
were; a leaking liner, broken water spigot and a "rink widow". All
in all, everyone who skates enjoys themselves, and that’s what it’s all
about!
Already working on next years
lay out. Planning on moving the swing set and adding 15 more feet (20x35).
Got the "two-foot-itis"."
Great job and thanks for
the pic Gerald. |
