The
2009 "Best Backyard Rink" Contest Winner
The poured concrete pad, four foot boards with curved corners, plus lighting, penalty boxes, and
the very important size feature, all added up to a winning rink. Congratulations Rodney, and thanks to everyone that sent in a picture.
60' x 30'
Rodney writes:
"This hockey rink has a poured concrete pad which measures 60 feet by 30 feet. It has four foot plywood
walls all the way around with rounded corners. The corners are two sheets of 1/4 plywood bent to create
the shape. There are 15 foot lights on either end for night hockey. There are home and visitor penalty
boxes. The score board is currently under construction and should be completed soon. There are 3 gates
made to work just as an actual hockey rink. The entire rink was built by family and friends in the shop
on the property. It is used and enjoyed every day and night with hot chocolate and cold beer in the shop
next to it. Here are a few pics. I hope they make it on your web site."
This is an awesome rink. Great job guys. Thanks for the pictures.
