Bob writes: "I started it on 7 Jan 03, and we were skating on it on 11 Jan 03. The rink is natural (no liner), and it is fairly flat. There is some waviness to it, but I believe that happened from applying water at too cold of a temp (6 deg's F) (-14.4 deg's C). The rink is appx 35' x 90'. This building of this rink couldn't have been any better. We had no snow, and I laid down about 5-6 good light coats with a hand held sprayer. The next day it snowed 6", and when I cleared the snow with the snowblower, it flattened out the rough frozen grass. I then started layering it with a "watering wand" (a 3' long wand with a 2" diameter shower head) that puts out a nice gentle pattern about 18" in diameter from about 3' above the ice. I laid down probably 12-15 light coats, and I have a good 1 1/2" base." Great job and thanks for the pic Bob. |
