"This is my first year building a rink and do tell you truth, I found it real easy.
I started with a white 40x60 liner and 2x6 for the frame then added 3/4 inch plywood all the way around.
Next I filled it with water and waited and waited.
I had it built just in time for the holidays. But in southern
Ontario the winters can sometimes feel like summer. It got as high as 13 degrees for 2 weeks. No ice until
last week when the temp just droped.
The night before it got cold I mixed what water I had in there with
10 bags of milk, it worked like a charm. 2 days later I had nice solid white ice. From there I added lines with party
streamers and since my town of Pefferlaw does not have an arena I named it the Peff Center.
I added the name with bristol board. And since I entered the Home Depot, Hockey Night in Canada
build a rink contest I added their logos as well. Gave it a couple of good floods. Added my 2 offical size nets
and I was ready to go.
My first rink was a success, next year I will go bigger ... this year it is 22x42."
Nice rink Chris. Thanks for the pics.
