"Hi Howard, this is my second year building an ice
rink. Last year I built the ice rink using 7 jiffy rink bags(each being 10 x 20 feet). The overall
rink size only turned out to be roughly 28 x 40, as I had bad slope in my yard and two giant
tree stumps.
In the spring of 2004 I had the tree stumps removed and the backyard leveled for the upcoming
winter. I used a completely different method for the rink this year. I built a frame for the rink
then layed a 60'x 40' tarp and then attached the boards to it. I put it up in early November to collect
the rain water. By early December i had collected enough rain water and it had frozen over for my first
skate on December 6th. I have since painted lines, creases and a Toronto Maple Leaf symbol at
center ice.
The rink has been a great success this year and many hours of fun, its size is about 38'x 58' feet. Thanks
for the great helpful website."
Super job Chris. Very professional looking...except for the Toronto Maple Leaf symbol (ha, ha). Thanks for the pic. |
