"This is our first year building a rink. What a (warm) year ... Probably about 1/3 of our Winter days so far have been above 40 degrees F in Detroit."

"The rink is 22' X 44' and we used a clear tarp. The slope in our yard is more than we originally thought ... 24" from side to side.  This proves you can build a rink even with a large slope, even as far south as Novi, Michigan (20 miles northwest of Detroit)."

"Next year, though, we would like more skating days and plan to landscape the yard to reduce the slope.  Building the rink was a very fun adventure!!"
