"My rink is made on a frozen
rain water containment pond in my backyard
it is 170 ft by 68 ft.
It has 5 parking lot lights and 12 inch high boards.
I resurface the ice with
a homemade "danboni". My tractor has a broom attachment and it gets
the ice clean enough that it only requires 100 gallon of hot water to resurface
the rink.
My rink was lucky enough
to be featured in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune on Jan 19, 2003.

This is the 14th year of
having a backyard rink, and it has been fun every year. We have kids
from 4 school districts come to skate, all ages 4yrs to 54 yrs old.
We have are own logo on black
and white jersey's so we can tell who is on who's team. This year
the parent's and some skating dad's gave me a professional skate sharpener.
I'm in my fifties so I'm
not sure how much longer I will continue to skate with the kids, but my
plan's are to continue with the rink as long as I
live here."
Wow...amazing rink Dan.
It sounds like you are very much appreciated by the people that use your
rink...nice to see. Thanks for sending in your pic. |
