"I made a frame 20' by 30' out of 2x8's in November.  We ran into every
trouble you could possibly have.  We had a few cold nights at the end of
December and thought it was time to put in the liner and start the rink.

As soon as the liner was put in the weather turned unseasonably mild.  We would have a couple of cold days followed by a few mild ones.  The rink was slush for the month of January.  We patched a few leaks that we found, but it still leaked from the leaks we didn't find.  

It has been cold (and snowy) for the last few weeks, and our rink has been
great.  We have had so much fun on it lately it is all worth while."
