Francios writes: "Hi Howard, This being the spring where I have a bit more time on my hands having had a great backyard hockey year, I can now reminiscence on the good times I had. This year I made a few additions to my rink, namely enlarging it to 36'x30ft, just about the largest my backyard will allow it to be and added a few decorative items like lines and flags. What made this an exceptional year was the idea of turning the backyard rink into a 3on3 neighborhood backyard hockey league. I never thought that this would take off like it did. It turned out that we had 20+ kids from the neighborhood that came to skate on the ice and we had three teams play in the backyard league. In the process, other Dad's have picked up the "bug" and have built their own backyard rinks. We even held two of our league games on a neighbor's rink. Sort of like having different home ice advantage. Hopefully next year we can get three different backyard ice rinks and rotate the games.
