Ken also sent a picture
last year. It looks like he made some modifications to his backyard to
build this one. He writes:
"This years rink was built
almost entirely by my 13yr old and 15yr old sons with some help from friends
and relatives. The rinks dimensions are 64' X 36'. The boards are
4'x8' knee walls built with 2"x4"'s which are 2' on center and 1/2" OSB.
They lagged the panels together and attached a top rail made of 2"x6" boards.
The liner is the plastic
used for covering boats for the winter (I highly recommend this stuff,
worth every penny. It is 7mil thick and pure white). They used duct tape
for the center line and an American flag for center ice. I hired an electrician
to install a metal halide lamp on the roof of the house so that they could
play at night (I had no idea it would light up all my neighbors yards as
well)."
Absolutely awesome job boys.
I can't imagine what you would do to improve this rink. It is very
impressive. Thanks for sending in the pics.
