Jon writes: "Hi Howard, Thank you for the GREAT Website and all the information within. I cannot express how valuable it was reading about all the experiences that you and others have had while building their own rinks. This year was my first attempt at building a rink from scratch and came with a few frustrations along the way. The first attempt in late November was foiled because I had underestimated the slope in the yard and did not measure properly. After some rebuilding, help from a neighbor and a significant amount of wisdom from good friend who has been through a few builds of his own and also a few pictures up on your Website (Pat Coutts 2004/2005), the second attempt was a great success! Since the onslaught of cold weather, the kids and I have been out there every day and are having a great time. My daughter is 10 and my son 5. The rink has provided a great opportunity for him to practice skating lessons, build better balance and play some sticks & pucks. Perhaps his dad should practice more too!
