The
2006 "Best Backyard Rink" Contest Winner
This is an awesome rink. As noted below, it's a Home Depot Competition
Winner. If it's good enough for Home Depot, it's good enough for me. Congratulations to all of this year's entrants.

"Our rink is 145 feet long by 85 feet wide. It is set up in our back yard and has boards all around it. It has two doors on either side for the players teams. We have a hockey shack with a stove and benches in it and all different team jerseys that the people wear. We have a full light system that lights up the full rink.
We call our team the Canyon Creek Coyotes, since we live beside a creek and we have coyotes in the field across from us. We named the rink the Canyon Creek Arena. We have neighbourhood guys playing every Friday and Saturday night and we have kids and families come out all day on Saturdays and during the week after school. The guys play scrimmage hockey and the main rule is good attitude and have fun.
We clean of the ice with shovels and brooms and we water it with a "man-made resurfacer" which is hot water buckets poured onto a blanket pulled around the ice by the men. Lots of fun! We have 2 boys and 2 girls in the family and we are all die-hard hockey fans, but mainly Toronto Maple leaf fans!!!"
Super nice rink John. Congrats on winning the Home Depot competition. You were up against some very nice rinks. Thanks for the pic.
