| Here is a picture
of Jim's natural rink made on the flood plain behind his house. Its
size is approx 40' x 80'. Jim spent many nights flooding the ground
even before there was any significant snow cover...his theory being that
he would saturate the earth with water that would then freeze and take
subsequent applications on the surface. It worked. Combined
with some well timed snowfalls to establish banks, he was on his way.
The ice is quite smooth and several inches thick and he continues to flood
on almost a nightly basis.
