"This was a my first attempt
at building a rink and the last few weeks, the ice has been near perfect.
Thanks for all the tips Howard.
This pic was taken this afternoon,
6 March here in the Gatineau Hills in Quebec just north of Ottawa, Ontario.
You southerners must be so jealous that we can keep a rink going 'til mid-March.
As you can see by the height
of the snow boards, we've been getting blizzard after blizzard of late.
The area is famous for skiing with its rolling hills. Hills and rock are
however not so good for building rinks. I managed to get a considerable
amount of land fill from a fellow down the road near Meech Lake (and Canadians
will appreciate that the less I say about the politics of this place, the
better... and for the rest of the world... don't
bother asking).
The rink measures 30 x 20
feet. I have about another 3 or 4 metres (oops 10 ft) I can level up and
then it's solid rock. That's my son Devon and no, he's not skipping school.
It's his "study" break and Dad said it was OK to spend the afternoon playing
hockey in the sun as long as he could play too. "
Great job and thanks for
the pic Ken. |
