"I call my rink the Screwless rink. Why? It uses no screws.
The frame (bottom portion) has been put together using bolts, nuts and metal brackets. When I place
the top 2x12's, 10's etc. I hammer in the rebar which fit through the existing round metal eyelets found on all the pieces of wood (2 on every 10ft piece).
I then have two layers of wood on top of each other which I need because my rink requires 22" of water in the deepest corner (see pix with line level). I hammer in wood stakes and this year also put in T-Bars (7ft) and attached fencing to them. For extra strength in the back I also put some 2x4's on an angle being held in with rebar on the ground but I don't think it was really necessary.
My rink is 30' x 40' and is made with a liner. The season started Dec. 07, 2005. Total Ice time thus far has been 50 hours between the 2 kids. January was not great - hoping for a colder February.
Thank you Howard for a great website."
Nice job Mark. Thanks for the pics.
