This was Bill's second attempt
at a backyard rink. It is about 20' by 17'. He used 2"X8" boards
on 3 sides and used a 10" garden brick wall on the forth side. The
2"X8"s are attached right to the fence posts on two sides. He used a clear
tarp (20'X30') to keep the water in.
Here is the construction
play by play:
"I built the frame Dec 22.
On Dec 24, the weather forecast for the week called for temperatures consistently
below zero (although never colder than -9C) and no snow, so I decided to
fill it with water. The water was 10" at its deepest and 3" at the high
end. The next 2 nights the temperature got to -6C and the ice
was strong enough for my kids by boxing day."
Five year old Billy and 3
year Lauren, Mom and Dad are having lots of fun.
Good job and thanks for the
picture, Bill. |
