to the naysayers (neighbours) who will tell you their experiences about
how they couldn't build a rink. I grew up in Vancouver where the
climate doesn't allow for rinks and now I'm giving advice to Maritimers
about how they can get their own rink started. I love it.
Our rink is 16 x 24 which
is perfect for our two children, aged 5 & 3. I built it
with 2 x 6's and an industrial tarp. Next years may be larger as I'm learning
like boat owners rink makers seem to suffer from "two-foot-itis"
where next years rink is always planned to be bigger.
Anyone who lives in a climate
conducive to making rinks and has kids that like to skate should take the
plunge and go for it...like us I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
My #1 rule for making a
rink: Make sure your ground is level! You can't change level
once you have ice!
Good comments, and thanks
for the pic Paul. |
